SINOPSIS / SYNOPSIS
Eloína, una estudiante de baile flamenco y antropología social, inicia con la ayuda de su amiga Carmen, un estudio sobre las tocaoras, las mujeres guitarristas flamencas.
Su primera sorpresa aparece al conocer que el título en esta especialidad se expedía en Rotterdam cuando aún no existía en España. A partir de aquí, emprende un curioso viaje en el tiempo para localizar a las tocaoras de los dos siglos anteriores.
Eloína se apasiona cada vez más al irse encontrando con las mujeres que ejercen profesionalmente este oficio en la actualidad. Ellas le muestran su arte, su disciplina, sus miedos, sus giras, sus compañeros, su mundo…
Eloína is a flamenco dance student and social anthropologist. With the help of her friend Carmen, she starts a study about the tocaoras, the flamenco female guitar players.
Their first surprise was to know that the degree in this specialty was only given in Rotterdam when it did not exist yet in Spain. From then on, they start a strange time trip to find the female players of the last two previous centuries.
Eloína verifies this does not only happen with this instrument, but with flamenco in general. It has been considered, in certain periods, something marginal and that is the reason of its obscurity in the academic field.
Eloína develops a more passionate interest as she finds women who have this job nowadays. They show her their art, discipline, fears, tours, partners... their world.
This demonstrates her that there are common points between all of them:
The self-sacrifice that meant for some of them an early retirement due to old-fashioned sexist prejudices.
The strength that those prejudices gave to other female players to resist, prove their value and open the doors for those coming behind.
The return of other female players thanks to the policies of work insertion of women.
The satisfaction of learning that, today, their number is increasing and that they are all happy to know and help each other.
They all estate that they will never leave the instrument they play because it is their life, their passion; despite of the instability and the difficulties that these artistic jobs imply.
Carmen, to finish the investigation, surprises Eloína and the female players with a flamenco party where the universal master appears: Paco de Lucía.
